The English rate of harmonized inflation, which measures changes in prices by the same method in all countries of the euro in July stood at 1.9% , representing an increase of four tenths with respect to June and the highest record of this indicator in a year and a half. This is reflected in the leading indicator index Harmonized Consumer Price (IPCA) released by the INE and that coincide with general inflation (CPI), due on August 12 , would also mean an increase of four tenths in the evolution of prices of basket English purchase.
According to INE, the rise in inflation in July was mainly explained by higher prices of food and beverages, and also by higher gas and package tours, which in this case often go up in summer.
